Artist Statement

My focus is in painting interesting views of common sights and subjects with high contrast.  I love being surprised by the abstract play of shadows and reflection.  All of the paintings started as photographs which I then crop, and sometimes composite, into the views most interesting to me.

Most of my current paintings in this grouping are from around North Haven, and surrounding islands in Penobscot Bay, Maine, where I have spent the better part of 50 summers of my life.
